This is just one more crappy product made purely to trick people with the “Fake News” scams. The site in question is www.news5reports.com, but there are – surprise surprise – plenty of others around that seem to be following the same predictable pattern. Not only is this a complete and utter scam but, to add insult to injury, the acai product itself is weak.

The problem here is that Acai Complete 6 is an inferior heat dried extract; heat drying takes away a lot more of the goodness than does freeze drying, and you should always opt for the latter whenever you have the option. Of course freeze drying is more expensive for the producers than heat drying, which is why you see so many cheap, crappy products using it.

The sites on the graphic below have all been found to be using the same fake news scam as Acai Complete 6 and www.news5reports.com. The basic M.O. is this: they all use the VERY SAME fake news site, change the name, change the product, and change the ‘reporter’ that is fronting the site. In this case the reporter’s name is ‘Julia’, but if you look around you’ll see that ‘Julia’ takes many different forms, and appears to have a whole bunch of different name.

The site’s main selling focus is for a ‘Free Trial’ product. You take the free trial acai berry and pay just shipping and handling; unfortunately you have to sign up to an ongoing subscription to be able to take advantage of the free trial. The subscription is almost impossible to cancel and can run up to $100 per month.

Of course the news site IS NOT a legitimate news outlet. Julia does not exist. DO NOT FALL for this blatant scam. Check our Acai Berry Scams page for some more information.

Acai Ultra Lean joins the ranks of sub-standard acai products being pushed onto unsuspecting consumers by scammers. Not only is the product itself very, very poor indeed (it’s drum dried acai which is mixed with lots of cheap ingredients), but the methods used to promote it are fraudulent.

The Acai Ultra Lean product is being promoted using the popular “News Site” scam. A fake news site (in this case www.usahealthreport.org) is created to dupe the visitor into thinking it’s a real news site with authoritative articles. They even create a female anchor to add credibility: the www.usahealthreport.org site uses the fictitious Gina Miller. Needless to say both the site and Gina Miller are certainly not the legitimate figures the purport to be; the scammers just change the names and sell another product.

The site will try to offer you a free trial of acai. You apparently need to only pay for S&H you get your trial. Unfortunately, these free trials also trick the visitor into signing up for a subscription which charges the victim $80 or more a month!

Many people order acai on-line thinking that it is the cheap and inferior (albeit much more convenient) method by which to source acai products. Acai products in the stores, so their reasoning goes, is higher quality and, although it is more expensive, is better value for money. After all who would think for a minute that mega-stores like Whole Foods could provide inferior goods to their customers?

However, if you order acai from an on-line store, then you’ve got much more chance of getting a high quality product than if you had purchased from a local store, and that’s a fact. This article attempts to answer the obvious question of ‘why’ this is case. It will also put straight some of the misconceptions surrounding the ordering of acai on-line vs in a store.

When you order Acai on-line you will be more likely to receive a fresh product that has been processed a lot less than the store varieties. Acai degrades very quickly, an in fact far too quickly for it to be any good once it goes through the store’s lengthy delivery, storage and shelving processes. To get around this rapid degradation, stores use a drum drying method on the acai once it is harvested. Drum dried acai has a lot of the goodness burnt away, but it lasts longer because it is a completely dehydrated powder. Not only can this powder be used in acai supplements and pills, but if you add some water it becomes a kind of acai juice again; the juices you buy in Whole Foods and the like will all have come from this powdered start.

If you order acai and want quality, then on-line stores can do a better job. Because acai supplements and purees ordered on-line are basically sent from the harvesting site to your door, there is no long traveling or standing time. The worry about the product degrading by the time it gets to you is substantially less, and so different processes can be used to package the acai.

Better acai supplements and pills will contain freeze dried rather than drum dried powders. The freeze drying process is not as harsh on the acai as drum drying, and it retains the antioxidants and nutrients that are most likely the main reason for you buying the product for in the first place. This means that acai juices and purees can be made from pure crushed acai berries. Acai purees have a much thicker, stodgy, texture to them which makes the liquid almost chewy. When you first try acai puree you will see a huge different compared to juice, and if you are looking for a healthy diet supplement then there is no competition: puree wins hands-down every time.

The acai that you buy from a store is not bad, per se, it’s just that the quality is always going to be limited by factors outside the control of the store. If all you are seeking is a tasty and refreshing drink that tastes great, then acai from high street stores might be just fine. If you’re looking for something to help add essential nutrients into your diets, then order acai on-line. There are exceptions to this guidance, of course, and some on-line stores simply repackage the inferior product you find in the supermarkets. Choose correctly, though, and you will get more out of your purchase.

The best acai juice is the one which fits your needs; not the needs of the people trying to sell it to you. Are you looking for something that’s going to taste nice for the kids? Or are you looking for a full-bodied acai puree picked days ago from the palm on which the seeds were growing?

The best acai juice for those wanting a tasty beverage is basically the supermarket brands. These are easy to get hold of and some really do taste great. Unfortunately they are little more than reconstituted fruit juice – indeed most of them contain more fruit juice than acai juice, so you’re paying a premium for very little acai at all – and they are unlikely to do you much good from a health standpoint.

The best acai juice for anyone wanting to get the full benefits of acai into their diet is undoubtedly the acai purees that you will only see sold on the web. Why are they only sold here? Because the high street stores can’t get this puree – and this is as natural an acai product as you are going to get – to your house quick enough. All that sitting around on supermarket shelves quickly takes its toll on the delicate acai berry, and it degrades sufficiently to make the product nasty and worthless. Buying on line means the product can be shipped to you almost directly from the place of harvest. How’s that for ultimate convenience?

The best acai juice from the health standpoint is that which has retained most – or all – of the goodness of the original acai berry. You are buying the berry because of the nutrients in it, after all, and it simply does not make sense to then take those nutrients out of the product just because you can’t look after it properly. Again, this is what a large chain of stores is likely to do with all of their acai products, and this is why the best bet is to find a supplier online. Best of luck for whichever route you decide on!

“Purchase acai” say all the advertisements. But why? How? And where? These are just some of the questions that first-time purchasers of acai will be asking themselves. And quite rightly so: buying acai online – or even from your high street store – can be a leap into the dark abyss of the unknown. With all the negative publicity that acai and similar ‘fad’ health diets have been receiving recently, it would be imprudent not to research the product thoroughly before buying.

Purchase acai from your high street shop and you might be in for a bit of a surprise. The acai foodstuffs you get from places like Whole Foods and the supermarkets are a completely different animal to the berries you see in their natural glory on the acai palm. The berry, when picked, degrades rapidly and is in no fit state to be sold within hours of it being harvested. Because it takes a fair while – think months rather than days – to get a product from its source to the store shelves, the larger retailers have had to rethink how they present and package acai.

If you purchase acai from somewhere like Whole Foods, you can expect a product that has been through a process called ‘drum drying’ and from there reduced to a concentrate. Once it is ready for bottling, water is added and the concentrate becomes a tasty acai juice. This juice is mixed with various other products to make it taste better, and to make the product cheaper and easier to mass produce. This process is all well and good if you are looking for a delicious drink; if you are on a quest to find a health supplement that is going to help you in getting fitter and healthier, then you should really be looking a bit harder to find something closer to the real thing.

Purchase acai online and you will get the closest you can get to the real thing. Closest without traveling to Brazil and picking the berry yourself, that is! Online retailers can freeze dry, if necessary, or hot bottle the acai in super fast time, meaning it’s at your door within days of it being picked. It may not be off-the-tree fresh, but it is pretty close to being so, and it as close as you are going to get. Freeze drying or hot bottling are also much kinder ways to treat the berry, and they preserve vastly more of the nutrients than the drum drying alternative.

If you’re determined to buy the best quality acai you can – and at reasonable prices – then you’re not going to find your task at all easy. Is it worth putting the effort in to get it? Sure it is!

Acai berry reviews that are unbiased are few and far between. There are plenty of reviews out there, but a bit of sensible searching will find that a large proportion of those reviews are commissioned or written by the very company that is trying to sell the featured product. Are there any ‘real’ reviews of acai berry products that can inform you before you buy? Sure! Are all reviews worth reading? Absolutely not.

Acai berry reviews will take the form of inconspicuous pieces on article submission sites like Ezine Articles, on ‘blogs all over the web, and even in some cases on higher profile sites. Occasionally entire sites will sprout up for the sole purpose of pushing one brand of acai or another. You might think that people wouldn’t be willing to go to the effort required to create and market an entire site just so they can encourage sales of one acai product; you’d be wrong. This is big business and there is a lot of money to be had. People go to extraordinary lengths to build up the reputation of their own products.

Decent acai berry reviews do exist, and despite all I’ve written in the preceding two paragraphs, there certainly are good resources for them if you look in the right places. Don’t be satisfied by reading just one or two reviews, and don’t ever be swayed by the apparently attractive offer of a free trial (do a Google search for ‘Acai Berry Free Trial Scam’ if you’ve not come across this phenomenon yet. Seriously, do it now). If something seems too good to be true, then assume it is unless proven otherwise.

Acai berry reviews that are not trying to sell you something will generally be recognizable by the simple fact that they are not 100% positive about the product that they are reviewing: a sure giveaway that a review is not genuine is if it only praises the product in question. Is anything in this world perfect? No? Well why would an acai berry product be any different at all?

Please don’t take this little post the wrong way: acai is a fantastic product, and I would seriously consider using it if you’re planning a healthier lifestyle. Do your homework first, though, and check that what you’re buying is the real deal.

Despite many articles in various newspapers that suggest evidence to the contrary, people really do want to get fit; unfortunately the vast majority of people just don’t go about it in the right way. Many people find themselves swayed by the short-term promises offered by makers of chemicals, drugs and supplements that just are not as good as they say they are. People can find themselves drinking a diet drink in the morning to help with their weight loss, taking vitamins to help get them through the day, and drinking an energy drink in the afternoon to get them over the hurdle presented by the fatigue of our hectic day to day life. This is a cocktail of potions that are shoved into the body; many don’t give the benefits they promise and nearly all are synthetically produced.

The new Acai Berry Functional Fusions range from Acai Zone takes away the need for you to fill yourself full of these temporary aids, many which can actually do more harm than good. Acai is a natural product and it can help all of us to lead healthier lives.

By drinking Acai Berry Functional Fusions on a daily basis you will start providing your body with what it needs to maintain good health, stay energized and feel awake and alert all day. Drinking these purees instead of taking numerous sources of chemically altered foods will provide you with better, healthier results in a natural way. You will also have more energy with which to burn off any excess calories. To top it all off, acai berry has been shown to have properties that mean it is an excellent appetite suppressant. Acai provides a lot of benefits to a lot of people.

The Acai Berry Functional Fusions range is made with acai berry puree; this is very different to the heavily diluted and over processed mixed acai juices other brands try to pass off. With Acai Berry Functional Fusions you are getting maximum benefit out of this impressive little berry. Plus, you will get to have all of this nutritional value in a drink that tastes great at the same time.

Who said you can’t have your cake and eat it?!

Yes, most supermarkets do now stock several brands of Acai Juice. You can usually find Sambazon and Bossa Nova in single serving sizes in the chilled section, and often some of the mega brands like V8 on the shelves. We have a mini-review on those brands below, and will be adding more in the coming days, as well as a poll to let visitors vote on their favorites.

In general, supermarkets do not stock the best quality Acai Products, as they are forced to compete on price rather than quality. The bigger the brand name, the less expensive their product will be, and the less actual acai juice you will be getting.

In addition to the price wars the big brands must battle to find shelf space, they also demand a product that can sit in the warehouses and on the shelves for 12-18 months. Unfortunately, a whole Acai Puree that contains the pulpy fiber and omega 6 & 9 fats will not last that long.

So, they either “clarify” it, by straining out the pulp. Or, they freeze-dry the puree to powder, then “reconstitute” it by adding water. This product is very stable and can even be called 100% Acai Juice, no matter how much water they add when reconstituting it. But it has almost none of the good omega fats and fiber, and much less of the antioxidents than Acai Puree. Then, to make more money, these mega brands often mix the juice with less expensive fruit juices. They end up with 10-20% acai in the finished product.

We do not mean to say that the Acai Juice you find in the supermarket is worthless. It is probably better for you than many other juices on the shelves. Just realize what you are getting. Some of the most commonly available brands are review below. I particularily enjoy the Bossa Nova.

Supermarket brand Acai Juices

Naked Juice

For taste, this is my absolute favorite, hands down. Like a lot of their juices, they use purees for the Acai and Banana. So it has a nice thick texture. Like all the other retail brands, it’s not really an acai juice (check out the ingredients – water and apple juice first), and has a lot of calories. But is a nice choice to grab after a workout. $4 for 15 ounces.

Ingredients: Water, Apple Juice, Pomegranate Juice Concentrate, Acai Puree, Banana Puree, Red Grape Juice Concentrate, White Grape Juice Concentrate, Natural Flavor, Soy Lecithin.

Sambazon

The Original Blend contains a mixture of: Organic Acai Puree, organic agave, organic lime juice and contains less than 0.5% of organic natural flavors, organic soy lecithin and citric acid. Although this product uses some puree, and therefore retains some acai omega fatty acids, amino acids and fiber, it is watered down quite a bit and contains less than 20% acai berry in the final product. They have several different flavors that are mixed with different fruit juices. Price is normally around $4.95 for 8 ounces

Ingredients: Organic Acai Juice, Organic Agave Organic Acerola Juice, Organic Blueberry Juice, Organic Pomegranate Juice, Organic Natural Flavors, Organic Soy Lecithin, Citric Acid.

Bossa Nova

The Original Flavor contains a mixture of: Wild-harvested Acai Juice, Organic Agave Nectar, Natural Flavors, Citric Acid. This is a clarified juice, so is lacking important acai nutrients such as omega fatty acids, protein (amino acids) and fiber. But it is not mixed with other juices, other than the Agave Nectar used as a sweetener. It is also less watered down than most supermarket brands, and tastes very nice! Is a bit more expensive than others at nearly $5 for 8 ounces.

V8 Acai Fusion

The 800 pound gorilla of juice brands is now jumping on the Acai Bandwagon! Of course, this is an Acai Juice in name only – just check out the ingredients below. It has a little reconstituted Acai “juice”, but is far less than 10% of the total. It doesn’t taste anything like Acai, but is probably a good choice to get for the kids because of that. And is very inexpensive at $7.99 for 46 ounces.

Ingredients:

Reconstituted Vegetable Juice Blend (Water and Concentrated Juices of Purple Carrots, Carrots, Sweet Potatoes), Reconstituted Fruit Juice Blend (Water and Concentrated Juices of White Grapes, Apples, Acai, Blueberries, Limes), Contains Less than 2% of the Following: Plant Sterols, Natural Flavoring, Lemon Juice Solids, Malic Acid, Ascorbic Acid, Natural Flavoring (Contains Malic Acid), Vitamin E (Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate).
