Dieting is not as difficult or as stressful as some magazines and books would have you believe. The key to a successful diet is control; the key is most certainly not starving yourself, nor is it sticking to one food or type of food.

Some easy ways to help your diet are as follows.

Exercise. As well as having fat burning properties in its own right, exercise actually increases you metabolism for a while, so you are better able to convert your ingested food into the energy your body needs.

A food diary. This simple tool can just make you think a little harder about what it is that you’re eating on a day to day basis. You may see that you eat many more unhealthy snacks than you thought you did, for example. You might see that you go a long time without food and then stuff yourself. Both are bad for your body and its digestion.

Weight loss groups. Some groups encourage fad dieting, and these should be avoided. Others — essentially support groups — can really help with your motivation towards weight loss.
