There is a lot of talk about super foods, and many people are recommending a lot of different products and foods as being ‘super’. What exactly is this ‘super’ suffix, though? What makes a particular food ‘super’? Quickly put, a super food is one that covers many of your mineral and nutrient requirements as possible.
The acai berry has become very popular as a super food of late. It has become very popular with good reason, as really it offers benefits in terms of instant delivery of amino acids and antioxidants that beat its nearest super food rivals by an order of magnitude. The acai berry is the super super food, if you like.
While there could conceivably be some danger in consuming a lot of one particular foodstuff, this level is likely to be basically unachievable with something natural like the acai berry. The locals that harvest the acai berry in the Amazon rain forest in Brazil (where it grows on tall trees) eat a lot of acai berry. The actual figure of acai berry consumed is not known but some early reports suggest that as much as 42% of their food intake consists of raw acai berries. How is that for a very impressive figure?

My sister was recently hospitalized due to elevated creatine levels indicating acute renal failure, although she was still urinating. She was put on dialysis with the intention of having a scheduled biopsy in two days. Her creatine decreased on it’s own before the biopsy was performed and it was determined unnecessary. She was taking an acai berry supplement for approximately one year, and her physicians believe it was the cause of her illness.
i was hospitalized for acute renal failure and my doctor said it was because of the acai berry supplement i was taking… idk but i am leary
Pat i wouldn`t think Acai berry would raise your Co2 levels at all. If anything i would have thought it would lower them, unless someone knows otherwise?! Personally i would like to see more studies done on superfoods / berrys. It would be interesting to know if there are any side effects to such things and how much should be taken and for what period of time.
I’ve been on the colon cleanse for 2 weeks with exercise, but without diet and my stomach has gone down significantly.
You guys are just fatties looking for a quick way out lmao.
Kelly- I would not take acai berry with ulcerative colitis. It works as a natural cleansing agent, and that could worsen or agravate your condition… I would how ever recommend “resveratrol” its used as an anti-cancer/ anti-aging/ anti-oxidant. It helps cleanse the actual cells in your intestine/colon/whole body. Papaya enzymes are helpful as well in breaking down your food and digesting it properly so that it can pass thru the intestines and colon normally like it should. Also very important is Acidophillus, or a probiotic with 3 or 4 different strains of your healthy bacteria.. maybe a strong pro-biotic (25 billion or 50 billion)
Yes – is there any SERIOUS, RELIABLE, MEDICAL information on the possible side effects and contraindications re acai berries? Everything seems to be hype & advertising. For example, is there specific data re the berry & drug interations? I take certain meds & need to know if it’s safe to add acai berries – is there a website? thanks.
I tried Acai berry and colon cleanse for three months and all it did was really bloat me out in the belly. It’s a lie, I do think the berries are good for you in juice or pill form if you get the real thing. But to loose weight – that’s a lie and stupid it does not work and I did this religously for three months and it’s not cheap either. And by the way since I went off of it my stomach is going back to where it was before I started taking it. (my normal)

I have been taking the acai berry (1000 mg) 4-6 per day along with the colon cleanser, and I had some blood work done and it showed my C02 levels to be slightly elevated. Is this normal?? Never had my C02 levels raise before.
wondering if acai supplements safe to take with diagnosis of ulcerative colitis? Also taking Remicade and 6mp for this-wondering if okay to take while on these? Most M.D.s don’t know alot about natural supplements and don’t know how to advise in this area except to say, “don’t take.”
Thanks,
Kelly
