News of the Brazilian palm acai berry’s glories is circumnavigating the globe. Scientists are scrambling to come up with accurate research and data to explain the reasons why this small berry is becoming an integral part of nutrition. So is it really a superfood and does it do all health food stores claim it can? Recent testing seems to suggest it can.

Acai Berry Tests
A team of Texas AgriLife Research Scientists recently found that the acai berry absorbs into the human body, making it an important superfood for a numbers of reasons. Firstly, the acai berry contains numerous antioxidants which are known to fight free radicals in the body and maintain inner health. Secondly, acai berries are naturally low I sugar, making them a healthier alternative than other fruits high in sugar content. Thirdly, the acai berry did show some activity against cancer cells. At this stage, the level of activity has not been properly tested.

Acai Diet Trials
Trial subjects were given doses of acai berry pulp and acai berry juice. This acai berry diet was taken in between regular meals, therefore the subjects were considered to be tested within the ‘normal’ parameters of an average person’s lifestyle. This was important in gaining real and useful results for the American population.

Acai Berry Results
Within a day, the subjects’ blood and urine samples showed noteworthy augmentation in antioxidant activity in the blood after this acai diet was consumed. Thus, it was concluded that significant levels of antioxidants contained within the acai berry are absorbed quickly into the human body.

The widely understood benefits of antioxidants has been proven, which is why the Texas AgriLife Research Scientists wanted to prove the acai berry could be absorbed into the body effectively and was not wasted in digestion. And prove it they did; such absorption rates are considered tremendously beneficial for the inner health of consumers.
